A Project Concludes. Life at Lopemede Continues.
Endings and Beginnings at Lopemede Farm and Beyond
Dear Readers,
It has been a while! We hope this message finds you well. The Roots and Rhythms project at Lopemede Farm has come to an end, but the entanglement of life inevitably continues on the farm. A few notable mentions: four barn owl young have fledged, ponds are being created for newts, hundreds of humans came to a day for screenings of "Six Inches of Soil," and Eddie is trying to become an expert on dung beetles. We are filled with gratitude for the journey we've shared and the insights we've gained.
We're excited to share more with you all about what we got up to and what we learned soon. Harvesting everything and editing into a digestible shape is just talking a little longer than expected so we decided to prioritise the creation of…
A Pocket Guide of Life-Centred Practices
We are thrilled to announce "From Surviving to Thriving," a pocket guide brimming with life-centred practices for farms, landscapes, and those that steward them. This guide gathers together some of the ways of working and being that we used in the project, and we hope it will guide and empower others to embrace a connected and caring approach to land stewardship.
It is currently rolling off the Risograph printer at Oxford GreenPrint and we will share information about how to get it in print or pdf when it is available.
A Glimpse of What's to Come
In the coming weeks as we continue to reflect and write about the project, we'll be sharing:
Articles unpacking each stage of the project, detailing what we learned and how we moved forward.
Deep dives into the themes we explored and the processes we used, offering practical insights and inspiration for others.
We look forward to sharing these stories, continuing the conversation with you all and exploring the exciting opportunities. If you have particular questions or things you’d like to hear about then please let us know.
While the Roots and Rhythms project has ended, our commitment to fostering a regenerative relationship with nature continues. We’ll be exploring new initiatives and partnerships to further this mission, and we can't wait to bring you along on this next chapter.
With care and wild wishes,
Julian & George
